She’s Losing It! is a blog (and now a book!) about my journey of transforming my size 14 body, at age 38, into abody in five months by entering a . The book is like a Rocky for Moms who want to laugh while combining strength training with potty training.
A brief history…
Three years ago I was also going through a tough time in my life. When my doctor told me I was borderline obese I was shocked; I just thought I was chubby. Just as everything in my life was falling apart, an invitation to my 20th high school reunion came in the mail (of course!)
It was time to take drastic measures. So at age 38 and 50 lbs. overweight I decided to enter a bodybuilding bikini competition. (‘Cause when you’re middle aged and borderline obese is there really a better time to enter a bikini competition?) With the help of personal trainer Daniel Rufini, I lost 50 lbs. and re-evaluated my life in the process.
Today, at 41, I’m in the best shape of my life. I’ve kept the weight off, became a certified personal trainer and just won 1st place at Texas State Naturals. I also do Spartan Runs and pole dancing just to be sassy. I went from being overweight, to placing dead last to becoming a champion. It takes time (3 years), consistency and dedication but I assure you that if I can do it you can do it too.
